Wineskins

Wineskins is An award winning weekly half-hour radio program conceived and produced by the Telecommunications Center of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, airing every Sunday over WKBN-AM 570 at 7:30 a.m., WILB-AM 1060 at 9:30 a.m., and WLOA 1470 AM at 10:30 a.m. Wineskins addresses real issues in today's world and church while sharing faith and information. Its objective is to strengthen the faith of listeners, to catch the attention of unchurched listeners and to deepen the understanding of the churched listeners. It seeks to accomplish these objectives by providing a blend of information, inspiration, opinion, and music assembled in a magazine format. Since its beginning in August of 1981 Wineskins has won many awards including the Gabriel and Proclaim Awards.

Highlights of this Special Edition of Wineskins on Vocations

Current Issues:
Fr. Jeff Mickler, Vocation Director for the Society of st. Paul, shares his thoughts about the current vocation shortage in the church.

Saint Segment:
Br. Dominic Calabro from the Society of St. Paul, reflects on the life of St. Hannibal Mary de Francis, the forerunner to modern pastoral care for vocations. He was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2004.

Interview Segment:
Mrs. Melinda Knight will interview Fr. Leo Wehrlin, Director of Vocations and Sr. Joyce Candidi from the Office of Vowed Religious about the call to vocations.

Music Segment:
The Notre Dame Folk Group from Hemitage, Pennsylvania sings "You Are Mine," taken from the CD "For the Glory of God."

Scripture Segment:
Fr. Leo Wehrlin, Vocation Director for the Diocese will assist us in reflecting on the Scriptures as they speak to us about God's call to a vocation of service in His name.
