ANNUAL BISHOP’S APPEAL "Sharing HIS Love…for Church & Charity" The Annual Bishop's Appeal supports the work of the Church in the Diocese of Youngstown as it fulfills the threefold mission of Jesus Christ: to teach, serve and sanctify God's People for the sake of salvation. To achieve this purpose, our 2004 goal is to raise $3.6 million from the generosity of the Catholic People of our diocese. Sharing His love for Charity: Your generous gift to the Bishop's Appeal will help Catholic Charities continue its ninety-three year tradition of serving those in need. Through 13 service sites in Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning, Portage, Stark and Trumbull counties, Catholic Charities will respond to nearly 40,000 hurting individuals and families this year. The elderly, the homeless, children and entire families depend on your love and your support of this Appeal to help them meet their basic needs. Catholic Charities, thanks to your support, also advocates for a just society and a respect for life Sharing His love for Church: Funds generated from the Bishop's Appeal support diocesan ministries and programs that serve the entire Church in the Diocese of Youngstown. Examples include: Seminarian Education Office of Youth Ministry Office of Religious Education Office of Marriage & Family Ministry The Media Library Office of Pro-Life Ministry Office of Catholic Schools Vocations Office How your parish benefits from your support of the Annual Bishop's Appeal: Your support of the Bishop's Appeal offers your parish an opportunity to raise funds for its own needs through the Appeal Rebate Program. Every parish is given an Appeal Parish Goal. Dollars raised above that goal are rebated to the parish for its own use. Last year approximately $333,000 was rebated to parishes. An investment in the Annual Bishop's Appeal impacts the lives of individuals and families along with the life and vitality of the entire Church in the Diocese of Youngstown. Support given the Appeal helps our diocese accomplish the saving work of Jesus Christ and brings HIS love to those served by it and those blessed through their support of it.
